Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Fri, May 15, 2009 18:03:42Hello from Scuttlebutt HQ.
We had an amazing time with Macdeath, which closed on Sunday afternoon after a fun packed two week run at the Landor. It was a great show and we were sorry to see the end, but rest assured this spoof of the Scottish Play will not disappear and we'll keep you posted as to future plans. We were blessed with a great bunch of people in the cast and crew and would like to extend our thanks to each and every one of them for their hard work and extraordinary contribution. So, Adam Venus, Ben Hadley, Simon Elwell, Miranda Dawe, Stephanie Clarke, Kimberley Eyles, Dominic Brewer, Richard Woolnough, Robert McWhir, Martin & Nina we salute you!
Just two more sleeps until the next cabaret and we have a stonking line up. As you know we have the wonderful Russell Levinson who will be performing his new set. Russell is a member of the Magic Circle and quite brilliant - we are thrilled to be welcoming him back to our cabaret.
Also returning is Jake Yapp, with his utterly unique and thoroughly entertaining musical style - if you haven't seen him before, you are in for a treat.
Miranda Dawe will be singing for us - Macdeath audiences will remember her as Mickey (and numerous other roles), many strings to her bow, that lass!
Geoff Brown and Simon Clinton will be tickling our ribs with their stand up routines and we also have Delete the Banjax, the sketch group everyone is talking about. We saw them in action just recently and they're every bit as good as their reputation suggests, so don't miss them.
Sadly, our regular dance troupe Yah-dam-buggedy will not be appearing this time owing to injury, but they'll be there in spirit and will be back with a vengeance in June!
This could be our best show yet!
Come and join us for a damned fine Sunday evening; it will put a smile on your face. What better way to end the weekend?
Ta-ta for now
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Wed, May 06, 2009 16:43:30Hello,
Apologies for being a tad quiet on the blog front. We have been mad busy lately and so everything has taken longer than usual to get done!
So without further ado, here's the news.
Macdeath opened on 28th April and has been going briliantly! It is an extremely silly spoof of the 'Scottish Play' - don't be put off by its Shakespearian roots, it is far more panto than literature or RSC and you don't need to know the story in advance as all will be revealed in a lighthearted, ridiculous manner.
We've got it all, witches who will blow your socks off, multi-role playing of extraordinary versatility on the part of the cast, villainy, a dodgy dame and nonsense aplenty. It could crack a smile on the hardest of faces. Don't miss out, it's only running until 10th May, so book your seat and come and have your ribs well and truly tickled.
The next on the list will be the monthly cabaret, which will take place on 17th May - as ever 8.00 pm at the Landor. I am absolutely delighted to tell you that we have the fantastic Russell Levinson on the bill again - if you saw February's cabaret you will know that he is a brilliant magician and we are thrilled that he is coming back to delight the audience with his magic. You really shouldn't miss it, he is quite spectacular. The rest of the line up will be announced early next week.
Don't forget we are still looking for acts for forthcoming events, so please get in touch if you have something you want to propose, we are always open to suggestions.
Right, must dash off now and get ready for tonight's show.
Come on down to Clapham North for a top night's entertainment - you get sweeties too! Macdeath: Nightly at 7.30 pm until 9th May, 10th May at 3.00 pm. Box office: 020 7737 7276 or book online at www.landortheatre.co.uk
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Tue, April 14, 2009 17:34:49Hello, hello, hello!
Well what a hive of activity it is at Scuttlebutt HQ and beyond! We are now well into rehearsing 'Macdeath' and I have to say how delighted we are with the cast and the way the show is shaping up. With a cast of ten, there is multi-role playing and silliness aplenty - the perfect antidote to the recession, so do pop along for an evening (or afternoon if you come on a Sunday) of raucous entertainment!
In between all the witchery and silliness, we are also getting ready for the regular cabaret on Sunday evening (19th April). The bill is bursting at the seams with top class acts to amuse and delight you - not to be missed and it's a bargain at £5 to get in. If you haven't been to one of our cabarets, it's a different line up each month and we have been fortunate enough to have some brilliant acts including stand up comedians, magicians, musicians, sketches, dancing and lots more. It is quite simply the best end to a weekend!
Must flit now - lots to do, but keep in touch and there'll be more from Scuttlebutt HQ soon.
Tatty bye
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Mon, April 06, 2009 18:37:19Hello again. We've been a bit quiet on the blog front, mostly because we have been mad busy working on our next events. First up is the monthly cabaret - Sunday, 19th April at the Landor as ever. Last month was a brilliant night and you can see the pictures on the events page. This month will be equally exciting with a diverse range of entertainment delights on offer, including sketches, stand up comedy, balloon trickery, music, dance and impressions - it's going to be fab!
We are also delighted to announce our first co-production with the Landor Theatre - Macdeath or What's in a name? by Delores Tremens. This spoof of Shakespeare's 'Scottish Play' has silliness aplenty and lots to tickle your funny bone. It's on for two weeks and we have two Sunday matinees, so pick a show and come on down to join in the hilarity. 28th April - 10th May, Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30 pm and Sundays at 3.00 pm. We've got our cast in place and we're ready to get cracking - photos will be put on the site as soon as they're available.
There's lots going on, plenty of fun to be had, so don't be a stranger!
See you there! Tatty bye for now.
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Fri, March 06, 2009 11:16:30Just eight days to go until our next cabaret and I can tell you it's going to be spectacular. We have got the most fantastic line up with sketches from Zimbani and Lewin & Roy, musical delights from Rebecca Hamway, the ubiquitous dancing prowess of Yah-dam-buggedy, mind boggling magic from Dr Randy Prodstein and legendary twisted pop duo Frisky and Mannish, hosted as ever by the wonderful Mr David Raymond it's a night of delights not to be missed so Scuttle on down to the lovely Landor and you'll be in for a treat.
See you there - 8.00 pm, don't be late!
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Thu, February 19, 2009 17:07:02Well for those of you who weren't there, I can honestly say you missed a stupendous evening. With standup from Tania Edwards, comedy characters Terry The Odd Job Man and Mistress Angel, brilliant impressions from Pete Walsh, jaw dropping magic from Russell Levinson, musical comedy courtesy of Jake Yapp and a short piece of dance lunacy from Yah-dam-buggedy, it was variety in every sense of the word. As ever the lovely David Raymond hosted the whole evening and delighted us with his singing, playing and story telling. All too soon it was over and so it was down to the bar for plenty of liquid refreshment.
The March cabaret is shaping up nicely, but no announcements just yet - you'll have to wait a wee while to see who's on the bill. We are still seeing plenty of potential acts several nights a week - there is so much out there and we have been delighted to find some really fantastic people to be involved with our shows.
There are plenty of plans in the pipeline, so keep an eye on the news page for announcements.
Tatty bye
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Wed, February 11, 2009 13:03:28Four days until our next cabaret! We are absolutely delighted with the lineup for Sunday evening which will include character comedy, stand up comedians, music, some dancing lunacy and we even have a magician! It promises to be a spectacular night's entertainment so come and join us at the Landor, it's the best end to a weekend.
We would also like to extend our thanks to everyone who applied to our advert for acts, it was fab to hear from so many enthusiastic potential participants. We spent a large part of last week out seeing people strutting their stuff in various venues around London - a busy time and we have been a trifle knackered as a result, but it was all worth it.
We are already programming for our March cabaret and the lineup will be announced at a later date but I can tell you there is some exciting stuff in the pipeline. Other than all of that, we now have a facebook page, but haven't yet worked out how to link it to the website... It is also a tad basic at the moment, but we will get there eventually.
So that's the catch up from this end. Keep an eye on this space for more news as it rolls in.
Ta ta for now.
Events DiaryPosted by Deirdra Whelan Sun, January 25, 2009 13:49:53Greetings, hello and welcome. A week has passed since our Comedy Cabaret and as you may well have noticed from the News page, we have confirmed our next event for Sunday 15th February! Even more exciting is that we will be producing a monthly cabaret at the Landor Theatre, every third Sunday of the month - just a fiver to get in and a jolly way to round off the weekend. The next cabaret will be 'Variety' - a mixed bag with music, comedy and more to be announced so please keep a beady eye on the website. Lots to look forward to over the coming months, but for now I must dash off and get cracking. More soon...
